About Angel M. Castillo, LMT, BCTMB and the ethos of Wuji Body by Angel

Who is Angel?

Hi! I’m Angel M. Castillo, a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT, OK license #193864), certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB, cert #2001092).

I graduated from the massage therapy program at National Holistic Institute in Los Angeles in October 2022, then moved to Oklahoma City to begin my career in earnest in January 2023.

I currently practice massage therapy out of my clinic at a Balanced Body in Moore - 8415 S Western Ave. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 405-595-0522.

I pride myself on my ability to mix and match massage techniques to best fit my client’s needs. Some of the styles and modalities I pull from include Swedish, deep tissue, shiatsu, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation.

As a life-long martial artist, I’ve studied and competed in various styles including Shotokan karate, folkstyle wrestling, amateur sumo, and most recently taijiquan (tai chi). I spent 2021 to 2023 studying directly under 12th-generation Chen-style lineage master Guo Qichen, won silver medal at the 2022 World Series of Push Hands and gold medal in Chen-style forms at the 2022 Golden Dragon Championships.

I now share my knowledge of Chen-style tai chi with weekly classes at Windsong Innerspace in downtown OKC.

Originally from Miami, Florida, I’m fluent in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, and enjoy helping clients of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds.

What is “Wuji?”

"Wuji" 無極 is a Chinese phrase that literally means "limitless" or "infinite." In Daoism, it is the primordial state of nature, where everything is in perfect balance, prior to the separation of yin and yang. The phrase appears in this passage in the Dao De Jing:

"知其白,守其黑,為天下式。為天下式,常德不忒,復歸於無極。"

"Know whiteness, maintain blackness, and be a model for all under heaven. By being a model for all under heaven, eternal integrity will not err. If eternal integrity does not err, you will return to infinity."

The opposite state of wuji, where yin and yang are manifested, is in turn called "taiji" 太極, which is where the martial art of taijiquan 太極拳 gets its name.

In taijiquan, you always seek to find "wuji" before beginning any movement. It is a state of calmness and rootedness, with stillness in motion and motion in stillness.

I decided to call my business "Wuji Body" because of this dual nature of "wuji," simultaneously centered and limitless.

Only in balance can you surpass your limits, and only through building awareness and connection to your body can you attain balance, and that is what I hope to facilitate through my massage therapy and martial arts classes.
